About the Project

This project was dedicated toward analyzing the Physics within a video game surrounding a specific set of characters, a bow user, a crossbow user, and a sword wielder.

Units

Paladins has a system of measurement of its own called units to measure distance. Unfortunately, since most of my physics equations are surrounded by the metric system, I needed to find a way to convert the unit system of Paladins to the metric system. Thankfully, I was able to find a reliable source(reddit) that converted a single unit to 22cm or 0.22m

Determining Gravity

To determine the acceleration due to gravity that exists within the system mechanics of Paladins, I used a character named Evie. She has the ability to teleport to any space within her range of 72 units. Teleporting her directly up and using logger pro to find her velocity and additionally her acceleration helped us find the gravity of Paladins: 11.57 m/s^2

Sha Lin

Sha Lin is a damage dealer in Paladins who shoots down his enemies with his trusty, rusty Longbow. During my research, I got super sidetracked by the complexity of longbows, and actually, bows in general. Finding ForceDraw curves, draw force calculators and much more all over the internet. In the end, I believe that I barely scratched the surface of bows in analysis.

In addition to analyze the energy that Sha Lin's average arrow was delivering, I also analyzed his ability to Rapid Fire 5 shots over the course of 1.8 seconds.

Cassie

Cassie is another damage dealer in Paladins, and like Sha Lin, she uses a bow to cut down her enemies. However, unlike Sha Lin, Cassie shoots her enemies down with a hunting crossbow.

While analyzing Cassie's average energy delivery, I also analyzed her ability to change her arrow shots to be able send her opponents back a certain distance using momentum equations.

Zhin

The final character that I analyzed was Zhin, a sword master in the world of Paladins that flings burning oil at his enemies. He was by far a more interesting character to analyze when it came to ability analysis, largely due to the addition of rotational force and angular accelerations.

While once again analyzing his average energy impact per swing of his sword, I also analyzed how much force he was creating with his ability "whirl," a super fast spinning dash forward that hits anything in his path.
